DESCRIPTION:

FIRST DAY: BASE CAMP

 

08:00 - 08:30 am Pick up from the lodge to go to our warehouse and check the equipment of each one, then we will board our vehicle (4x4), to go to the Chachani Nevado on the road via Aguada Blanca until 5000 m.s.n.m. Approx., (3 hours) place where the car leaves us, in this way you can see the vicuñas. After a brief acclimatization to the altitude we started the ascent to the base camp for an average of 2 hours.

Arrival at the base camp 5200 m.s.n.m. place where the camp rises and from where you can see the Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, as well as the Pichu Pichu, the Misti volcano, the Salinas lagoon. Dinner and overnight.

 

SECOND DAY: CUMBRE - AREQUIPA

 

Early in the morning, breakfast 02:00 - 2:30 am. Departure from the base camp towards the summit, this ascent lasts approx. 6 to 7 hours along the path of sand, ash and snow, until reaching the summit of Chachani 6075 m.s.n.m. From the summit you can see the Misti, Pichupichu, the Salinas lagoon and the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, the city of Arequipa, as well as the snow-covered Coropuna, Ampato, Hualca Hualca and Sabancaya.

The return to the base camp lasts 2 hours approx.

Descent towards 5000 m.s.n.m. where the 4x4 car waits for us to return to the city of Arequipa - lodging. Arrival time 16:00 pm approximate.

 

RECOMMENDATIONS: it is necessary to bring mountain boots, flashlight, batteries, gloves, mountain passes, sunglasses, sunscreen, 5 liters of water per person, snacks.
